  1. Can I suggest an implementation of actual split screen integrated into the actual mod? So you wouldn't have to screw around with windows and other 3rd party tools, and it would easily work on Linux, Mac, Windows, or otherwise. Your mod is the best option PC players have for local multiplayer via split screen, but it's still nowhere near as simple and elegant as what the console editions provide.

    1. While it would be great to have it implemented seamlessly into the game, adding such functionality through a mod would require a considerable effort, not only for initial implementation but also when porting for new versions of Minecraft. There are many technical issues like authentication and rendering which come for free with vanilla Minecraft but would need to be rewritten for the native splitscreen mod. And I wouldn't like it to be offline-only.

So, while technically possible, it would best be done by the Mojang themselves. But if anyone would like to give it a shot I'd be happy to share my experience and tips from working on Minecraft codebase.

  2. if the controller disconnects while playing then you have to completely close minecraft and reopen it to use it again. You should add a way to re-scan for controller by pressing a key or something so that you can avoid this.
